Biographical Info

Founded in 2016, Qtum (pronounced quantum) is a hybrid blockchain application platform that aims to be the bridge between the Bitcoin and Ethereum communities, the real world and blockchain world.

Its core technology combines a fork of bitcoin core, an Account Abstraction Layer allowing for multiple virtual machines, including the Ethereum Virtual Machine (EVM), and a Proof-of-stake Consensus protocol, aimed at tackling industry use cases.

A global project, the Qtum team comes from both the Bitcoin and Ethereum communities, as well traditional companies like Baidu, Alibaba, Tencent, NASDAQ and more.

The Qtum Foundation is backed by a number of blockchain players that include Roger Ver, Star Xu, Anthony Di Iorio, Matthew Roszak and Tally Capital, alongside traditional Venture Capitalists, and executives from some of China’s largest technology companies.  Raising $1 million in a seed round, the company then went on to raise $15.6 million in its ICO in 2017.

The Qtum Foundation, headquartered in Singapore, is the decision-making body that drives the project’s development.  It currently receives project management support from PwC, one of the world’s ‘big four’ leading professional service providers.

October 2018 – Qtum becomes Amazon Web Services partner in China to provide enterprise grade Blockchain as a Service (Baas) Solutions.
